Early Life

He was born in Southall, West London. He was eleven when he formed a hip-hop duo with his cousin called “Compulsive Disorder”. His stage name was “MC Nicky J”, the “J” being derived from the first letter of his last name “Jhooti”.

Jhooti was a student of Latymer Upper School. This is the same private school where Hugh Grant, Heston Blumenthal, and Lily Cole attended. In 1997, he left the school.

His first taste of success was with “Dance with You”, which became a huge success. It reached the 12th position. This resulted in a record deal for Virgin Records under their Relentless Records label.

Sean left Virgin Records in 2006 and returned to music in 2007 with “Ride It”. He was nominated in several awards in 2009 and became the first South Asian-origin artist to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York since Freddie Mercury.

He has also been a part of the Justin Timberlake charity concert for Shriners Hospital for Children 2009 with such artists as Taylor Swift, and Alicia Keys.

It was the most successful charity event of that year. It raised over $9 million. Thara Natalie, Sean’s wife, gave birth to Ayva in 2013.

Favorite Quotes From Jay Sean

My belief is that if you don’t enjoy your work, then it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if you have money or not, it is impossible to take anything with you. You can only take memories, experiences, and good times with you. I try to make the most of it.

I believe I have a lot of stories to tell, I’ve lived through all kinds of things, so it isn’t much you can throw at my face that I haven’t experienced.
