Kirstie Alley, a Kansas native, was born in Wichita on the 12th of January 1951.

Alley has two siblings, Colette and Craig. Alley graduated in 1969 from Wichita Southeast High School. She went to Kansas State University for college, but she dropped out in her sophomore year.

She first appeared on the 1980 game show “Password Plus”. She described her occupation as an interior designer. She lost her mother in an automobile accident with a drunk driver the year after that. Her father sustained serious injuries.


Alley made her movie debut in 1982 with ‘Star Trek II – The Wrath of Khan’. Alley was a star in many smaller films over the years including ‘One More Chance’ and ‘Blind Date’.

She was a co-star with Mark Harmon in the 1987 comedy film, ‘Summer School. The film grossed over $35 million in the United States and was a big box office success. Later that year she joined the cast for NBC’s sitcom ‘Cheers.

She has received two Emmy Awards. Her second award was for “David’s Mother” in 1994. Alley was honored for her contributions to the film business by receiving a motion pictures award on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at Hollywood Boulevard, 7000 Hollywood Boulevard, in 1995.

Alley was selected to be a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2011. She was partnered with Maksim Cherkovskiy. Their first dance, the cha-cha-cha, earned them 23 points, which is second in their total score of 30.
