In 1973, he started his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach. Saban rose up the coaching ladder throughout his entire coaching career. After one season at the University of Toledo, he was promoted to head coach of the Cleveland Browns of NFL in 1991.

In 1995, he returned to college football. Saban was the Michigan State University’s head coach. He rebuilt the team in five seasons. Michigan State was 9-2 in 1999.

Saban reached the highest point in his career with five bowl game appearances, after a 13-1 campaign in 2003-04.

In 2007, Saban won the University of Alabama. He led the Crimson Tide’s third season to a 14-0 record and a win over the University of Texas. After the 2014-15 season, Alabama was the College Football Playoff’s top seed. Saban was back in charge of Alabama one year later, leading them to a 14-1 record and another win with 38-0.

Saban’s success was due to college football being a huge business, with millions of dollars spent on schools. Saban was the greatest college coach, making the sport more competitive than ever.
