While studying at the University of California in 2000, he responded to an advertisement for a job as a product tester at XDrive, a digital storage company.
Chris DeWolfe was also a worker for the company. It went bankrupt in 2001.
Anderson started working with eUniverse employees in August 2003 and created the social networking site MySpace. This was later to become the most popular internet marketing company. DeWolfe and Anderson created the first pages of MySpace.
Anderson was the default friend of ‘MySpace’. He would also be the first Friend for any new user to ‘MySpace. It was initially launched to compete with ‘Friendster’, a popular site at the time that had begun erasing fake profiles.
In 2005, MySpace’ and Intermix Media were sold to Rupert Murdoch’s ‘News Corporation. Anderson was elected president of the company.
“MySpace” continued to add new features such as a record label or an alliance with video-sharing websites like “YouTube.” However, MySpace membership declined sharply in 2008 as Facebook became more competitive.
