Tom Petty, the musician, was one of the greatest-selling artists of all time. At the age of ten, he discovered rock and roll when he met Elvis Presley. He was also inspired to some extent by The Rolling Stones. He started the band Mudcrutch which did not succeed.

However, his formation of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers was a game-changer. The band was formed by Petty in 1970, and their second album reached the Top 40. Their third album, which sold two million copies, was even more popular and had a number of singles.
