7 She hated her 1st Film Role

Filmmakers quickly noticed Streep’s beauty and wanted her to appear in their films. Streep flew from New York to play a supporting role opposite Jane Fonda in the 1977 film, “Julia.” Streep was only given a brief role in a flashback sequence. Most of her scenes were cut out at the end. But even her brief moment on screen horrified her.

“When I first saw myself on the screen, I was shocked. They took words I had shot with Jane and placed them in my mouth to create a new scene. I thought it was a terrible mistake. No more movies. “I hate this business,” Streep says Fonda had a lasting impact on her acting career and that she opened up more opportunities for her than she knows.
