8 The First Robin

Robin, the Boy Wonder, is Batman’s loyal sidekick. Batman would not be the same character without Robin! The Dynamic Uno isn’t as cool. Many people may not know that Richard John Grayson was the first Robin, and that he served many years as Batman’s partner. According to Detective Comics #226 published in 1955 Bruce Wayne was the first Robin.

The comic tells us how Harvey Harris, the World’s Greatest Detective, became a detective after he learned from him. Harvey gifted a young Bruce a Robin-like costume and taught him the art of deduction. A bonus fact is that the quote Harvey gave Bruce was the source of the name “Robin”. Bruce said that Bruce was “as brilliant a robin Redbreast,” which is probably some 50s speak. ^[3]
