17 Elvis Presley – Rock ‘N Roll

Rock N Roll was the UK version of the debut album of Elvis Presley. Presley’s debut album was named after him in America. Rock N Roll was at the time of its release still a new genre for major labels. Major labels were still unfamiliar with the genre, but Rock N Roll was a success.

The album would be sold over 1 million copies, making RCA Records, the record label it was recorded, the first record label to make a million dollars. William Robertson took this photo for the album cover. Rock N Roll‘s cover was Rolling Stones’ “100 Greatest Album Covers” in 1991.

Tony Visconti was a well-known producer who brought Bolan onto “The Prettiest Star.” Visconti later remembered how the session went until Bolan’s wife told Bowie that Marc was too good to play on “this album.” This would presage the end of their relationship and later rivalry.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan. The couple split and were divorced in 1980. The single is still available, but you may have to pay a lot if you want it. You can often find copies for as high as $2,000.
