Early Life

Michael Adeniyi Agbolade Ishola Adenuga Jr., was born in Ibadan (Nigeria) on the 29th April 1953.

His father was a teacher, and his mother was a businesswoman from the royal Ijebu blood.

Adenuga completed his secondary education at Ibadan Grammar School in Ibadan and Comprehensive High School in Aiyetoro for his Higher School Certificate. To help pay for his university education, he worked as a taxi driver.

It began services in Benin in 2008. The company has expanded its reach to other West African countries, including Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire. More licenses are currently being sought in other West African countries.

Adenuga was awarded the title of “African Entrepreneur Of The Year” at the first African Telecoms Awards in August 2007. He was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in 2009 for money laundering.

Career

Adenuga was granted a drilling permit in 1990. His Consolidated Oil, which was the first indigenous oil company to produce commercial quantities in shallow waters in Southwestern Ondo State in 1990, received a drilling license.

In 1999, he was granted a conditional GSM license. His telecom company Globacom grew quickly and began to challenge the MTN Group.
