Nasim Pedrad was born in Tehran, Iran on the 18th of November 1981. Arasteh Amani and Parviz Pedrad are her parents. Pedrad was 2 years old when her family immigrated to the United States.

Nina Pedrad, her younger sister, is a comedienne. Both sisters speak Farsi fluently. Both sisters were born in Irvine, California.


Pedrad performed with The Sunday Company at The Groundlings. Pedrad performed her one-woman show Me, Myself & Iran at both the Los Angeles divisions and Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. It was chosen for the 2007 HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas.

Pedrad began appearing on Fox’s sitcom “New Girl” as a regular guest actor in the role of Aly Nelson, an LAPD officer. In season one of Fox’s horror-comedy Scream Queens’, she played Gigi Caldwell.
