8 The Beginning

Michael Jordan made the decision to leave college in order to play basketball. He was selected third by the Chicago Bulls in the 1984 NBA Draft. Jordan’s determination didn’t stop at the court. He returned to school in 1986 and completed his geography degree.

Jordan scored just over 28 points per game his first year with the Bulls. Jordan scored over 40 points in six games that season. Michael was named Rookie of the Year and made the NBA All-Star Team during his breakout season. It was a great way to begin a remarkable career.
